New CD from Catie Curtis

"Stretch Limo" CD Comes Out THIS Tuesday... WIN a CD!!

I love Colorado. I'm opening for the Weepies in Boulder tonight, yay. It seems I may not be flying back to Boston on Sunday as planned. Or Monday. Or Tuesday. Or hmm, not sure when! I guess mine was one of those thousands of cancelled flights. I'm totally fine here in this lovely state but my thoughts are with everyone back east bracing for Hurricane Irene.

My upcoming CD "Stretch Limousine on Fire" will be out on Tuesday August 30! I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it. It's been three years since I put out a CD of all new material (Sweet Life, August 2008). The Performing Songwriter is featuring the CD in it's front page weekly jukebox contest. Go now and win a free CD! I'm thrilled with the early reviews such as these in No Depression and GlideMagazine.com. Check out excepts from early reviews here.

Some people ask if it's better for me if you buy the CD now or at the show. In this case, I want you to get the music NOW! I can't wait. So on Tuesday, go an indie store, or Barnes and Noble, or go to itunes or Amazon.com or CompassRecords.com. And if you love it, recommend it to others. Every sale helps me feel validated as an artist and human. Just kidding! But it does help with momentum!

Tour Update: I will be opening for the irresistible Weepies on August 27th at the Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder Colorado! Then, in the first week in September I'll be kicking it in Maryland, and Virginia (in Ashland and the Shenandoah Valley.)

The "Stretch Limousine on Fire" tour will be rolling through North Carolina and New England including shows in Natick MA and Portland ME. Check out the schedule here and reserve tickets early! The talented and lovely Jenna Lindbo will be accompanying me on the tour. Plus you never know who else might show up!

Facebook Update: I'm up to the 5000 person limit on my friend page, so please go the "Musician" page for updates. ("Like").

I look forward to hearing your responses to the new CD, and seeing you out there somewhere!

Are you on fire yet?

Catie

P.S. There are so many people to thank for making this CD possible. Today I want to thank SRO Artists, Compass Records, Chryssa Zizos, Stephanie West & Matt Curry at West and Associates, Jennifer Walker and my producer Lorne Entress. Seriously, you guys, thanks.

BIO: Catie Curtis delivers some of the finest material of her career in Stretch Limousine on Fire, ten original songs that push at her own musical boundaries and explore "the difficult edges of passing events" in life. Produced by Lorne Entress, the new recording is spirited, unique, and best embodied by the album's title track, "Stretch Limousine on Fire" taking on the idea that "when bad things happen, you sometimes take comfort in realizing they happen to everybody." It's this portrayal of universal life experiences, wrapped in Curtis' brand of evocative songwriting that won her the 2006 International Songwriting Competition. The sound, like the subject matter, is rawer than Curtis' previous work, which has been featured on episodes of Grey's Anatomy, Dawson's Creek and several other hit shows. Since the release of her last album in 2009, Curtis has toured extensively, playing a number of diverse venues ranging from Chicago's legendary Old Town School of Folk Music to a show at the White House in 2010.

Recently, the band announced on their FB page that their first single, ‘Victim’, from their September release of the album “Become” has been picked up by the juggernaut satellite radio station that is Octane. The band was formed from the friendship these guys had with each other as young men/teens in Tempe, Arizona. For more information, visit Man Made Machine's Facebook page.

The trademark emotive voice of Houston rock band Pale belongs to lead singer/guitarist and chief songwriter Calvin Stanley, who along with guitarist/ keyboardist Robb Moore, bassist Stephen Wesson and drummer Travis Middour quickly rose to the top of the Houston club scene and broadened their domain through impressive live performances on their own and as openers for acts as diverse as Depeche Mode, Roger Waters, Earshot and Blue October. Pale has just released their long-awaited new recording entitled IN THE TIME OF DANGEROUS MEN. For the official website, visit palerocks.com.

JOHN LEGUIZAMO in GHETTO KLOWN

March 8 Carol Morsani Hall

Direct from Broadway, John Leguizamo’s Ghetto Klown comes to Tampa! Conceived and performed by Emmy and Obie Award winner John Leguizamo and directed by Academy Award-winner Fisher Stevens, Ghetto Klown is presented by WestBeth Entertainment.

Ghetto Klown is the next chapter in John Leguizamo’s popular personal and professional story. It is his fifth one-man play, his third on Broadway, and follows in the uninhibited tradition of his Mambo Mouth, Spic-O-Rama, Freak, and Sexaholix…a Love Story. In Leguizamo’s trademark style, the piece explodes with energy, heating up the stage with vivid accounts of the colorful characters who have populated his life. He takes audiences from his adolescent memories in Queens to the early days of his acting career and on to the sets of major motion pictures and his roles opposite some of Hollywood's biggest stars.

Leguizamo explains, “Ghetto Klown is all the things I say to my therapist and my manager, but would never want the general public to know. It’s cheaper than a lawsuit and I get to take a bow at the end. It’s like Wikileaks but with no international manhunt. Yet.” Visit ghettoklown.com.

"greetings!

if you could have a super power, what would it be? some people want to fly. some want to be invisible (i think they may be up to no good). one friend wants to be able to teleport himself and 4 other people. he put a 5 person cap on his super power. another friend wants to be too tall man - "able to reach things on the highest shelf". he’s 6’ 2" i’m not sure he understands the game. me - i want to be able to speak and understand any language. that includes animals - all life forms - maybe plants too. this would come in handy right about now. i’m spending the summer in sweden. what a gorgeous place this is. i would probably have to be forcibly ejected from the country if i were able to speak the language. meanwhile i’ve been leaning heavily on google translate. i have loved being here and met loads of great people. it all went too fast. if i am very lucky i will get to come back again. i promise to work on my swedish while i am away.

the only good thing about the summer coming to an end is autumn - my favorite season and a fine time for a road trip. we will be out playing shows most of september and october in the u.s. … finally, we will get to see some of our friends west of the mississippi. woo hoo! at two of the shows on the west coast we will be playing w/ our good pal glen phillips. i love glen phillips! we’ll also be back to some of our favorite spots in the southeast and on the east coast. i’m hoping to make a new record this december so we may test out some new songs on you. – kim"
