Broadway has a hot new mama!

Brooke Shields will make her debut as Morticia tonight in the Broadway cast of THE ADDAMS FAMILY!

Want to see The Addams Family now? The wait is almost over! The Addams Family will tour across North America and you can come see it October 18-23 right here in Tampa! Douglas Sills & Sara Gettelfinger will star as Gomez and Morticia in the National Tour of The Addams Family.

This magnificently macabre new musical comedy is created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, Drama Desk-winning composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys) and Olivier Award-winning director/designers Phelim McDermott & Julian Crouch (Shockheaded Peter) with creative consultation by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks. This is definitely not the same old song and dance.

It's every parent's nightmare. Your little girl has suddenly become a young woman, and what's worse, has fallen deliriously in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. Yes, Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has a “normal” boyfriend, and for parents Gomez and Morticia, this shocking development will turn the Addams house downside up. It’s a family portrait that’s completely off the wall.

Brooke Shields joins the Family

As we posted on Monday, Brooke Shields will join the cast of THE ADDAMS FAMILY in the role of Morticia beginning Tuesday, June 28 on Broadway!

This Thursday, ABC is going to stand for the All Brooke Channel when Brooke Shields is scheduled to appear on “Good Morning America” at 7am EST, followed by a sit-down with the ladies of “The View” at 11am EST.

On June 23, be sure to tune in, set your DVR, or for the old-fashioned at heart, program your VCR to find out what it’s like gearing up to join Broadway’s first family of comedy.

Last month, “Access Hollywood” went behind the scenes to witness Brooke’s glamorous transformation and hear what her hubby had to say at the first sight of his leading lady adorned in Morticia’s signature gown—from his reaction, it’s to die for! Watch that video HERE!

Our very own Maggie Council submitted an original song to Motema Music’s “Voice of My Beautiful Country” national contest that asked artists to express themselves about living in this great country: If you had the creative opportunity, how would the "voice" of your country speak to you? What would it say?

Chosen by award-winning singer Rene Marie (who will be here at the Straz Center performing in December 2011) Maggie won first prize, which includes airfare to Washington, DC, two hotel nights and tickets to see Rene Marie’s show at the nation’s finest jazz/supper club, Blues Alley, on July 6th.

Even better, Rene asked Maggie to perform her song at the show – and also to provide guitar accompaniment to Rene’s song “Wishes.”

Way to go, Maggie!

You can hear the winning song at http://www.maggiecouncil.com/ (it will autoplay when you go to the site).

Rene Marie Voice of My Beautiful Country & Black Lace Freudian Slip Tour comes to Tampa Dec. 2 and 3, 2011. She also sticks around for SLUT Energy Theory: A one-woman play starring Rene Marie on Dec. 4th.
