audition notice: THE SOUND OF MUSIC

WHO: David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts

WHAT: Teenage children’s auditions for The Sound of Music

WHEN: Wednesday, Aug. 4, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Those auditioning must RSVP at 813.222.6453 for an audition time.

WHERE: Ferguson Hall
David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts

DETAILS: The Straz Center is holding auditions for local teenagers, ages 14-17, to perform on stage with the touring cast of The Sound of Music, which will play Carol Morsani Hall, Aug. 20-22.

Boys and girls should be prepared to sing “Do Re Mi” and girls should also be prepared to sing “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”

Teenagers selected will appear in 2-3 scenes and will need to be available for rehearsals Aug. 18-20.

Those selected will perform in multiple supernumerary roles; not as the Von Trapp children. This is a non-paid performance opportunity.

Auditions will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Straz Center. Those interested in auditioning should call 813.222.6453 to secure an audition time.

Dora the Explorer will be in Tampa this Saturday, July 17th!

audition notice: FORBIDDEN BROADWAY in the Jaeb Theater

The Straz Center for the Performing Arts will be holding auditions for its production of FORBIDDEN BROADWAY on Monday, July 26 beginning at 10 a.m. The auditions are by appointment only and will be non-Equity. Callbacks will be scheduled for Tuesday, July 27.

Rehearsals for FORBIDDEN BROADWAY begin Oct. 11. The show opens Nov. 2, 2010 and runs in the Jaeb Theater through Feb. 27, 2011. The week of Dec. 20-26 will be dark. There will be 8 shows a week. All rehearsals and shows paid weekly salaries.

Seeking 2 men and 2 women who have strong musical theater and comedic skills. Should have strong belts. Prepare 2 songs 16 bars each. Bring headshot/resume and sheet music in appropriate key.
