DVR alert... In the Heights: Chasing Broadway Dreams

The TBPAC is delighted to launch the first National Tour of the four-time Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights, Oct. 27 - Nov. 1, as part of the 2009-2010 Bank of America Best of Broadway Tampa Bay series. As we prepare to welcome the show to Tampa, we invite you to watch In the Heights: Chasing Broadway Dreams that airs on WEDU tomorrow, May 27, at 8 p.m. as part of their Great Performances series.

In the Heights: Chasing Broadway Dreams chronicles the personal stories of composer/lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast of In the Heights in the months leading up to opening night. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn how this young, diverse group of relatively unknown artists and performers dreamed of making it on Broadway and after eight years found success beyond their wildest expectations!

After you watch the program, circle around and leave a comment. We'd love to hear what you think!

What a great show. It was really nifty seeing behind the scenes. I liked what one of the actresses said about feeling like she was a fake Latina because she was caught between cultures. Very familiar since I am also a mixed Latina who doesn't speak Spanish. This made me very excited for when this show comes to town. Can't wait to see it!

Loved when "Graffiti Pete" saw himself on the billboard in Time Square. A moment of pure joy!

thought this was stellar. i'm thrilled when the unlikely person wins in the end. listening to their real life stories made me root for them all the more. loved when the writer said, "everyday has the potential to be the best day of your life." it was cool to see young artists making it, telling a story that is all their own, and proving that artistic validity naturally comes with collaboration.

Just loved the "In the Heights" PBS special and I cannot wait until this show is at TBPAC! Nice to see that theater dreams still come true and this show is just that.

Holy comments, Batman!

You guys should do this more often. :)

Interestingly enough, there is a less-than-subtle nod to In the Heights in Wonderland ...
