Our Director of Patron Services brought back this article from a recent trip to Atlanta on how people can save money by volunteering at a theater, where a key fringe benefit is almost always being able to see show for free.

Be a TBPAC usher and see cool shows for FREE!
The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center is looking for volunteer ushers to rock! Specialized usher opportunities, specifically for comedy, urban, pop and rock music concerts, have lower per month shift requirements than other TBPAC volunteer positions.
TBPAC also offers a volunteer usher program for high school students, with just a two shift per month requirement. Depending on the student's age, parental supervision may be required.
Requirements for these volunteer usher positions are:
• pleasant disposition
• available one to two shows per month
• ability to stand for three to five hours during the performance
• no aversion to heights
• available evenings or weekends
All potential TBPAC volunteers are subject to a background check.
Other exciting and fulfilling volunteer opportunities are available all year and are open to adults of all ages.
Interested parties should contact Gloria Heath, TBPAC volunteer coordinator, at 813.222.1065 for more information or to sign up for a training session. When calling, please let Gloria Heath know which volunteer opportunity you are interested in. Upcoming volunteer training sessions are scheduled for the end of April and in June. Want to earn service hours, help your community and see a killer show for free?
Well, there's a teeny-tiny catch (isn't there always?), but in the grand scheme of things, it's a great deal! TBPAC is looking for ushers for pop, rock, comedy, Latin and urban shows.
All we ask for in return is a few hours of your time in advance, and for you to do a bit of work for us the night of the show. Ushers hand out programs, help folks to their seats, answer general questions and usually work a door in the hall to help folks get in and out.
To join TBPAC's usher corps for these special shows, you simply need to call Patron Services by April 13 to sign up for the requisite three-hour training class held at the end of the month. We have upcoming opportunities in May for Rafael, Bright Eyes, Godsmack or Earth, Wind & Fire. New shows book all the time. If it works out for us all, you could be added to our rotation for shows like this.
